Hearing Tests
-
- Hearing tests are available in this office for
newborns to patients over 100 years of age. Tests include: Case
History, Otoscopic Evaluation, Tympanometry, Distortion Product or Transient
Product Otoacoustic Emissions, Air and Bone Conduction Thresholds,
Speech Reception Thresholds and Word Recognition. High frequency pure
tone tests are available for patients under going toxic medical treatment.

Balance

The hearing and balance mechanisms are
connected and sometimes disorders of the hearing system can cause balance or
dizziness issues. Tests include: VNG or ENG, VEMPs, ABR, Visual Acuity
Tests, and Sensory Organization
Performance Test.

Hearing Aids

For patients with a non-medically correctable
hearing loss, hearing aids are beneficial. Hearing aids are
recommended for patients with sensorineural hearing losses. For
patients who could never benefit from hearing aids, because of a high
frequency hearing loss, technology is now available to provide you better
clarity.

Cochlear Implants

- Candidacy determination using appropriate hearing
aids. Referrals for candidates to otologists. We are trained to
provide mapping services for Cochlear America Implants

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation comes in several forms:
individual counseling, family counseling and group counseling (see The
Kooser Program).

Assistive
Hearing Devices

- Patients are assessed and counseled on devices
that can be used with and without hearing aids to provide improved
communication

Hearing Conservation
-
- Patients are advised regarding safe level of
sounds and how to protect their hearing to reduce the risk of loss or
further loss.
